Consultation has concluded

County Staff have been working with DLMW Consulting to conduct a review of the existing Business Licensing By-law to better understand if it meets the needs of our community – especially as it relates to health and safety. The goal of this review is to draft a new, modernized by-law that better protects consumers, streamlines and simplifies the licence application process, and ensures that businesses, which require a licence, are meeting regulatory requirements.

We are looking for feedback from both business owners and consumers to help identify any gaps in the existing by-law, and to determine if amendments to the by-law may be required.

The County’s Business Licensing By-law currently licences the following types of businesses:

Amusements (example – a travelling circus)

Auctions/Flea Market Sales (example – car auction or a flea market)

Food Premises (example – a fast food restaurant)

Fri 13th/Thurs 12th Events (example – a merchandise seller or a food truck operating at a motorcycle rally)

Hotels/Motels/Bed & Breakfasts (example – a hotel, bed & breakfast)

Mobile Food Premises (example – a food truck or ice cream truck)

Pawnbrokers/Seller of Used Goods (example – a pawn shop)
