    Norfolk County is seeking your input in prioritizing services and investments for the coming year. The comments you submit will be considered by Council and staff in the budget process. All feedback received prior to October 24 will also be included in an report to Budget Committee in December. This report will communicate public feedback on 2023 budgets to Council.

    Hockey & Museum Subsidies

    There are significant budget savings to be found if we decrease our spending on museums and ask them to rely more on private fundraising. There is also 1.7 million dollars that could be cut from the budget that is currently subsidizing minor league hockey — in effect many families that can’t afford to put their kids on hockey are helping to pay for other people to play.

    low-income seniors rebate for water

    Water rates have climbed 40% ($57/month to $80/month) since July 2018. That's a single person using minimal water! Low-income seniors on a fixed income and trying to stay in their own homes cannot keep up with increased taxes along with water rates that have escalated at an alarming rate. A good place to start would be to provide a yearly rebate for those seniors who can prove they receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement from the government. Other municipalities have done this.
